A couple of weekends ago on fathers day when i was sitting on the couch opening up my cards from my wife and daughter, i could not help but wonder why my daughter had this mile wide smile on her face. So i opened my card and as i was reading it my daughter hands me these two tickets to see Rush at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City. Amidst my happiness and amazement i noticed that they were floor seats and the show was on the Fourth of July, I don't think i have or ever will get a better Father's Day gift as long as i live.
Well last night was the Fourth of July and let me tell you it was a night like no other. It started when i went over and met my daughter at her work over at the local Pizzeria and had a early dinner, Afterward we went home so she could get ready for our evening with Rush.
We left about 5 o'clock and headed down the Garden State Parkway and arrived at the Trump Taj Mahal around 6 P.M. and went in side. the way you have to go thru the Casino to get to the Taj Arena, you have to go by or thru the Casino floor, good thinking by the architect don't you think? So after dropping 80 Dollars in the Slot Machines we headed over to the Arena.
After entering the Arena we were directed to our seats by a floor attendant and my amazement just exploded as we found out how close they were to the stage. The arena itself holds 2,000 people so its small in itself so being able to get seats this good takes some luck, but as i have been blessed with a angel when my daughter was born, these things just come natural.
The show started around 7:45 P.M. with some really cool animation with the band playing all characters then launching into their hit Limelight and continued to crank out hit after hit for the next three hours. Playing most of their new album Sakes and Arrows along with selections that spanned their entire career.
With Alex lifeson doing things with his guitar that no other could, Geddy Lee Paying amazing bass guitar while dancing around the stage and playing keyboards along with everything else, and of course one of the greatest drummers there will ever be Neil Peart , pounding the drums like it was his last showing and doing a mind blowing solo to boot. As i looked around it didn't surprise me that 90 percent of the crowd were air drumming it.
Well it was some time after a four song encore, i think it was around 11:15 we exited the taj arena spent from the energy we released for the band and Stress Level lowered 100%. I'll tell you with the way things are going with the economy and everything this was definitely a much needed night out. Thank god i have a Daughter so grand, i love her with every inch of my heart.
